The Workshop / Replacing clutch push rod seal on K8 gsx650f
« Last post by chrislloydie on May 29, 2018, 04:47:48 PM »
I have a slow weep of oil from the clutch push rod seal. I have ordered a new seal but the one they have sent for my bike is 34mm diameter. The seal on my bike measures approximately 52mm.

Has anyone changed their clutch push rod seal and can tell me if the small 34mm seal sits in a larger rubber ring  or if it should be a one piece 52mm seal?

General Motorbike Discussion / battery power pack
« Last post by davie150 on May 13, 2018, 05:05:41 PM »
Hi, do any of you have a power pack under your seat or in top box for jump starting your bike in the event of you`re battery going flat? if so what one do you recommend?

I left my bike in the lock position on the ignition whilst playing golf yesterday and by the time I got back to my bike, the battery was completely flat. Now I do not know if I had left the key in the 2nd position which would leave the light on or not, but am hoping I did, as 6 hours would be enough to drain it and it would also mean the battery does not have a problem.

Luckily, one of my fellow members give me a jump lead of his car battery and after running his car for 5 minutes, disconnected the leads and I was fine, a 5 minute run home and the battery was up to 3 bars on the optimiser in garage. It is also up to full charge today after being on charge all night

Team

I move house in 10 days, & have to declutter. To that end I've got a Suzuki centre stand, Power bronze hugger in gloss black, & a standard screen all from a 15 plate GSX650F.

Make me an offer or I'll have to dusty bin the lot.

Chain Maintenance / Re: Chain adjustment on centre stand or is paddock stand required?
« Last post by IanG on January 23, 2018, 07:53:59 AM »
You need some weight on the bike to get the correct adjustment so side stand or a paddock stand is alright but the centre stand gives to much slack for the adjustment and will cause you to over adjust the chain for when it has weight back on making it too tight, I only use my centre stand 1-2 times a year and that's only when giving the chain a good clean or taking out the rear wheel

Saw a Youtube video suggesting to always adjust chain using a paddock stand.
What to you guys think? Is it OK to adjust when on centre stand or do I need to get a paddock stand?
Cheers

Hi all,

Really loving my GSF1250s Bandit, two up with heaps of gear (including the kitchen sink) didn't even notice the weight pulling up the mountains.

Finally got around to uploading some video of a fantastic trip around the South Island of New Zealand. Great weather most of the time for late autumn.

Not much talking just the odd comment to my partner riding on the back or music, apart from at the start. Just the bike, amazingly beautiful scenery and awesome roads. Lord of the Rings filmed around this area.

Will add more video when I can.

Still learning how to set up Youtube channel :)

Panniers & Luggage / Re: Givi 539FZ rack arms
« Last post by davie150 on September 30, 2017, 02:44:49 PM »
Oh well, no replies, I am bgoing to go for it as motorcycleplanet describe it as fitting a 2010 - 2016 model.

Now to decide whether to get a givi / kappa box and mount on to my givi plate or buy a cheapo top box with universal plate and drill holes to make it fit on to the monorack arms

Panniers & Luggage / Givi 539FZ rack arms
« Last post by davie150 on September 29, 2017, 12:01:32 AM »
I have decided to add a top box to my 2016 GSX 1250FA and am looking on the web, I already have an unused M5 monokey plate, so am looking for the rack arms and a top box

Are the above rack arms suitable for my 2016 1250 FA, as all the descriptions seem to say they are suitable for either the 650 07 - 11  or the 1250 up to 2014.

Now I would imagine the design of bike did not change from 2014 onwards, but dont want to spend £80 on something that does not fit.

Any other suggestions would be appreciated, I have noticed that Kappa boxes seem to be  cheaper and will fit on to my Givi M5 plate
