General chat. / Re: Getting ready for my first bike in Over 30 years
« Last post by Dermo on August 03, 2017, 03:06:12 PM »
Hi guys. I'm due to take my module 1 test next week. Can't wait to get on the road IVe not ridden since I was a kid and had a Suzuki GP100.
I'm a bit clueless to be honest but I think I have identified the right bike in the GSX650F. I've seen some on sale with FAL2 after the name of the bike. Can some one tell me what this means. Does it mean the bike has been restricted?

As soon as I get my car sold I will be looking to buy my own GSX. I can't wait!!
Got back into biking after about 20 years on a 600 Bandit for a few months then my 650f. Perfect for me. Hope you've had a similar experience

The Workshop / GSX650F Strange misfire

Bike 08 GSX650f
Im experiencing a rather strange misfire which occurs mainly at higher loads and RPM.
The misfire tends to happen at 80% - 100% throttle, and is that bad that you will not accelerate
if you use slightly less throttle than where the misfire occurs you can rev it out to the rev limiter cleanly.
And the interesting thing is, say you cruise along in 1st gear at 6k, snap throttle open and it starts to break down. You can flick the kill switch on off and then get straight back onto the throttle and it will pull clean. After a variable amount of time the miss will return.

Ive replaced the voltage rectifier
Fuel Pump
Coilpacks

After watching and reading all the glowing reviews on the Metzeler Roadtec 01's, I had a pair fitted and got them scrubbed in.

In a word, WOW, I know you can't compare new with old tyres, but feedback and grip is amazing, steering is light, neutral and progressive and the suspension feels noticeably plusher, plus they warm up quickly. They have a nice sporty feel to them and the bike seems almost telepathic.

As a bonus, Metzeler are offering a £30 prepaid credit card at participating dealers. Happy days.
Personally, I much prefer the feel to  these tyres to any of the BT21, BT23, PP2,PR4 and I have absolutely no hesitation in recommending these superb tyres.

Its almost time for me to change my PR4's, got 5k miles out of the rear and the front is good for maybe another 3k.  They were great in the wet, but felt soft and squirmy in the dry. They are definitely more  touring than sports and the turn in was to slow for me.

I found Bridgestone BT023's a better tyre than PR4's in the dry, which is 95% of my riding. I'm considering either T30 evo's or Roadtec 01's.  Has anyone tried these ? What are your thoughts ?
