I do first few hundred miles under 6K revs then the next 400 miles under 6K revs with small blasts upto 10K but only when the engine is warmed up, but if in doubt keep it to 6K

as per book

initial 500 miles.............below 6000rpm

up to 1000 miles...........below 9000rpm

over  1000 miles........below 12500

vary the engine speed to allow it to bed in

do not forget to run the tyres and brakes in for the first 100 miles

Took mine in last Wednesday and had clocked up 550 miles..short service which seemed steep as i reckon all they did was change the oil but now at least i can wind it up a bit more...now at 900 miles so break in nearly complete..a trip to London and back tomorrow should see it well over the 1,000 mark and hopefully be able to push the bike a little harder now..i followed the break in procedure to the letter as not being very mechanically minded did not want to risk damaging the engine and knackering up my warranty...
