Gear Indicator

Hi all i am having trouble with my gear indicator sometimes it will show the wrong gear sometimes it won't show neutrall does anyone know if it is the neutrall position sensor that runs the gear indicator i can get one used off ebay for about 20 pounds does anyone know if its a big job is it burried in the engine thanks for any advice in advance Darren

Mine does the same thing occasionally - I thought it was me... :icon_scratch:
 

On a month old bike i would take it back and get them to look at it........................never had that problem on any of my 3  :icon_thumright:

Me neither.  Mine's always correct, even blank when in a false neutral.

Had same problem,dealer replaced  under warranty

it is the neutral switch if its under warranty take it back if not its a 10min job
its behind the sprocket cover bolted to the cranckcase

Seems to be a common issue with the gear sensor.  Mine was fine last year, then after sitting for the winter when i start it cold it'll report random gears for a minute then it's fine the rest of the day.

so its the gear sensor huh? looks like ill be doing that before i head to deutschland! so on this schematic is it the part number 43 for the "gear shifting-OEM parts-Transmission" section?
