Tightening bolts
« on: June 22, 2012, 10:49:05 PM »
Hey guys.

On my old kawasaki ninja, I had a foot peg rattle off, so ever since then I've liked to check and make sure all my bolts were tight.

I was wondering if there were any bolts that should not be tightened on my bike? I don't know if any are super specific for a certain reason etc. I basically tightened all the fairing stuff with allen wrenches & then I checked all the little bolts that go around the engine casing etc, and the bolt that connects the forks to the wheel hugger.

I didn't crank on any bolts, just like to ensure that they are snug. Just want to make sure this is a smart/safe practice to make sure bolts don't rattle off.

Check torque settings & use a torque wrench - over tightening can do lots of damage especially casing bolts, quite easy to strip aluminum threads!!
