33bhp restrictor kit
« on: July 23, 2013, 06:03:22 PM »
Anyone have a 33bhp kit? Even a friend you know that has one sitting in a garage, or a dealership or garage you know that has one?

I need one, and also, if someone is kind enough, an explanation of how to fit it, unless it is technically advanced. I would say I am moderately skilled at DIY bike jobs.

Thank you.

Depends on the kit. See if you can get a 33bhp ECU, it's just a swap then, then swap it back when the restriction is lifted. Put the 33 ECU on eBay and get some money back.

Other restrictor kits either limit the throttle travel with a stop on the body or place restrictor washers in the intake tubes to limit airflow, crude.

Seems dear, but when you're done put your original back in and put this back on eBay. :)

Hmm, the guy fitting mine says I will get a certificate with all my details like name, address, the V5 ref number etc.

If I want to sell it won't I have to somehow get them a blank certificate or something??

Will someone buy it without the certificate?

People will always pay for a restricted ecu I know a few people who have restrictions and insurance has never asked for proof besides its only a piece of A4 paper with some random details

The certificate means nothing, it's the restriction that matters. You can get a certificate and then remove your restriction. When they check your bike they'll find it's fitted with the correct restriction and that's all that matters.

The issue is, I am with H&R, a scottish insurance company, who require an official certificate from an official garage for authenticity...

English insurance companies don't ask, but unfortunately I am stuck with the scottish one for now until my next renewal. I can't cancel it will cost ridiculous levels of money.

Mmmm... Ok, er... Can't your local Suzuki dealer help you out? Surely they can certify a 33bhp ECU has been fitted?

I'll see what I can do, the most local Suzuki dealer is 40 miles away which will cost about £150 for delivery of bike as I can't ride it there.

They did say a rolling road report could be used so can just do one there I guess.

Anyone know the rough price of a dyno read out?
