New GSX650FA owner

Picked up this 2010 last Sunday, it's winter here and I've been a bit sick this week, so I've only managed to ride 150km or so. (we've had some mild weather- yeah)

First impressions, great bike. It has just under 20k on the clock. I had to pull the carbon can off it, way too loud for me. I like the stock exhaust just fine. The brakes feel a little spongy coming off the VFR800. Might need a flush or some new pads. This is my 11th motorcycle in about 13 years. Second Suzuki..I had a Bandit 1250S at one point. I'm at a point where a middleweight is all I need, really.

As you can see, I got the umm, "undesirable" colour scheme. I'd like to leave the bike stock but I can't live with those "maroon" stripes. Lol. Any thoughts?

Nice looking bike! Yes 650 will do most things. I quite like the colour scheme, looks fairly modern to me. Was that an original ? I only remember Suzuki blue and then plain colours (red, black etc)

Thanks, yep it is original. They did some unique things in some markets, like how all the bikes were ABS here from 2010 on. I've seen this color on the web in other countries too, but it's uncommon. I want to keep it as stock as possible, and don't want to put $$ into it, I think I'll just deal with those pink ish stripes and call it a day.

I had a Honda 500 once , shiny black with lurid pink flashes on the sides - not exactly macho! I painstakingly cut wide black  tape to exactly cover the 'stripes'. Not a professional job but, you'd hardly know. Just was not worth a respray!

650 is a good all rounder. 1250 is brilliant on long runs. Very underestimated. The colours on yours look fin to me. Different markets had different colour schemes

I ordered some blue vinyl sheets, blue rim tape and some sponsor decals, as well as a tank protector pad. Just minor tweaking. I'll post some pics in a week or two.
