Engine stalls , cuts out and dies GSX1250
« on: March 28, 2017, 12:20:11 PM »
My GSX1250 (2015/6 model) keeps stalling.
I can get it to start again but not long enough to get me back home.
It seems like fuel starvation but I have not got a clue what the electrics are doing either.
So what happens...
I start the bike as normal on its centre stand with side stand up.
So far so good....
I let the bike idle for a 2 minutes.
Then engine stops with main light still on as normal.
I turn the key off and on. check kill switch ect.
I then start the engine again and it fires up first time.
I let it idle for a  few minutes until it stalls again.
I get bored and leave it overnight.
The next morning I fire it up. It starts first time.
I let it idle for a few minutes until is stalls again.
Clearly I can not even get to the garage as it stalls before I even get my helmet on.
Battery seem fine as its showing over 12 volts in the morning and it is starting on first press.
Fuel in tank and spark as it is starting fine.
I have noticed it rough idle just after starting, may be this is linked?
So what is going on here, and how do i fix it?
Any clues!!!!

just try this , don't cost anything more than a little time  : leave the fuelfillercap open, and start again.

When it runs fine now... the fuelpump is creating a vaccuum, and you have to check the rubber tubes under the tank if one is blocked or something

Sounds like fuel lines to me.

Solved:
After a lot of checking and checking over again it turns out that the Alarm /immobiliser was to blame.
If you have a Datatool S4 fitted 2015/16 or earlier be weary.
The garage replaced for free as there is a product recall.
You can check your serial number on the website but unless you know its there it is almost impossible to find it.
Apparently the faulty batch was fitted to triumphs as standard so the press releases on mention triumph. What you can't easily find anywhere is the fact that same batch was also used in the dealer /new bike sales. So no matter what bike you bought if yoyu asked the dealer to fit one to a new bike you run the risk of getting one of the faulty alarms.
Anyway I have done a good few hundred miles since then and all seems to be working fine  :icon_thumright:
